2008 March > Row To T.O.

On Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the Stone Road Mall, the men and women of the University of Guelph’s varsity rowing team will challenge themselves to “Row to T.O.” to raise funds to support their rowing program. The varsity athletes will row on “ergometers” (or rowing machines) until they have rowed the distance from Guelph to Toronto and back! The event takes place between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Varsity athletes have collected pledges in the lead-up to this event. They are being supported by the members of the Guelph Rowing Club, among others, including the athletes in Guelph’s rowing program for high school students. Athletes participating in the “Row to T.O.” event look forward to teaching visitors to the event about rowing basics, learn to row programs available through the Guelph Rowing Club, and the fun of regatta competition. Proceeds from the Erg-A-Thon will be used to help meet the program and equipment costs required to support Guelph’s rowing athletes.
