2008 May > Continuum Copied from their notice in the Gallery:
Barber Gallery is pleased to host “Continuum” Homage to Sand Stone and Water, an exhibition of new works by artists Bill Macdonald, Flora Spencer, Barb Shaw & Karen Fralich. The show runs to May 17.
Continuum, an exhibition showcasing the elements over time, is defined as a circular motion without beginning or end; constantly, endlessly replenishing itself. Families stretch far into the past and will continue far into the future, carrying with them not only genetics but history, passion and wisdom expressed in many ways; through heirlooms, documentation, letters, photos and of course, art.
This exhibition showcases the elements sand, stone and water, expressed by four artists through personal images and a variety of mediums. These images express the enduring beauty of sand, rock and water as they occur in our modern environment. We pay homage to their enduring presence throughout time, their historical influence in the creation of our natural world. We also recognize our mothers, fathers, those who have gone before us. They encouraged and supported us and continue to influence us in our pursuit of artistic expression.
