Creative Music Festival & Symposium
The U of Guelph's Music Students' Association (MSA), the Music Department along with the School of Fine Art and Music (SOFAM), and the College of Arts held their 4th Annual Creative Music Festival and Symposium in mid-February. The three-day symposium was filled with student performances, presentations, open classes, rehearsals, discussions, U of Guelph's Dr. Ellen Waterman and Dr. James Harley's "Spin" for computer and flutes, and a keynote talk by McMaster's Dr. Susan Fast, entitled "Queering Genre: Michael Jackson's Undoing of Pop Music Convention." Events like this underline the integral role that U of Guelph's Arts programs play in the city's rich cultural sphere.
