Students were all ears for Robert Munsch at Olympic Honda

Robert Munsch @ Olympic Honda

On Tuesday March 2nd Olympic Honda was very pleased to have famed local children’s author Robert Munsch read to schoolchildren from Ken Danby, Taylor Evans and Sacred Heart Public Schools. The afternoon included Guelph Storm's Assistant Captain Peter Holland and Chris Van Laren who spoke about the importance of staying in school, working hard and developing options for later education. The youngsters really had fun with the Storm's mascot Spike, who was joined by Grif, the U of G mascot. Dave Easter, Department of Athletics, U of G Manager of Marketing & Communications, brought with him three students from the Gryphon’s cross country running team to talk to the children and they delivered a strong message about “dreaming to succeed”. Refreshments were provided by The Pita Pit on Slivercreek Parkway. The day was organized by Community Relations Manager Randy Rogers and Fixed Operations Manager Desmond Smith with help from Rina Khosla from ABC Canada Literacy Foundation. Each student left with a grab bag which included a family pass to any Provincial Park in Ontario, games, stickers and tattoos. Prizes were given away for various events with the main prize of 4 tickets to the Guelph Storms final home game on March 12th being won by Connor Maclean. David Brewis, owner of Olympic Honda, said “The children had a great time and to be able to support Honda and ABC Canada Literacy Foundation in their efforts was wonderful. As Guelph’s “active” community dealer we look forward to doing even more with our local children in the future.” To see some of Olympic Hondas’ community partners such as the U of G Gryphons, Guelph and Fergus Curling Clubs, Guelph Country Club, Snap Fitness, Walk for the Cure, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, please visit their community page at www.olympichonda.com.
